Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Sheona began her musical career traveling around the world as lead vocalist aboard P&O and Princess cruiseships after graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts. After returning to solid ground, she landed a role on Australia’s famous soap opera ‘Neighbours’ as the bitchy Candace Carey during 2009 and 2010 (credited as "Sheona Urquhart").
During this time, Sheona also wrote and performed in the hilarious comedy duo hit TV Live On Stage, featuring Sheona’s knack for comedy and writing parody musicals. Between 2010 and 2013, Sheona was a founding member of Australia’s sensational pop a cappella group Ginger and Tonic, taking Sheona across Australia and Germany, and awarding them Best Music at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Sheona also held her own comedic segment on Melbourne’s number 1 radio station, Fox FM (The Matt and Jo Breakfast show), where she would eavesdrop on local Melbournian conversations and spill the beans each morning live on air.
In 2014, Sheona spent two years playing and teaching music in London, before falling in love with Stockholm-native, Victor.
She and Victor are now married (hence the ridiculous surname) and have lived in Stockholm since 2016.
Once in Stockholm, Sheona met fellow artist and songwriter, Jade Ell, and together they formed the captivating country duo, "Ell & Hart", showcasing their impressive vocal harmonies and songwriting.
Through working with Ell & Hart, songwriting was a natural progression for Sheona. The artistic name “SHEBABES” was coined by her friend and mentor, Tania Doko (of Australian ARIA-awarded pop duo Bachelor Girl) who helped pave the way for Sheona’s songwriting career in Sweden.
Sheona Urquhart Smångs now works with a variety of artists and musical projects in Sweden and internationally.
